Wow, we're looking at a phenomenal weekend ahead. Things have been just a little bit crazy with the current lack of venues and so many awesome bands competing for the local stages. But it's all coming together in a big way, as usual. I know I'll be running all over downtown Prescott AND Prescott Valley this weekend to take in the fantastic live music our little hamlet has to offer. Don't let the weather forecast scare you - it might be cold, but if you remain on the dance floors you'll never feel it!
I am very much looking forward to seeing Llory McDonald and Combo Deluxe, as they will be gracing Jersey Lilly's stage both Friday and Saturday night from 8 p.m. until midnight. Llory is one of the strongest, most determined women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I can't wait to see her back on that stage. To me she personifies the quintessential warrior woman and I very much admire her.
Matt's Saloon is entertaining the crowds with a FREE CONCERT on Saturday night. You don't want to miss this one, Academy of Country Music Nominee "Lost Trailers" will perform on Saturday night with the fabulous band Southbound opening for them beginning at 9 p.m. Southbound is also the featured band on Friday night beginning at 9.
Local favorites The CheekTones will entertain with danceable comfort tunes at the Rocking Horse Saloon in Prescott Valley on Saturday night at 9, and if you're out that way already, you should also stop by the Jackass Inn to take in our beloved Oldie's band, Little Larry and the Drive, also on Saturday at 9.
Lyzzard's Lounge has DJ Gypsy Hunters spinning vinyl for the hip hop crowd on Friday night beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday night's special treat is... wait for it... THE MODS!!!! I so love those guys, can't wait to see them!
And one of the gigs I'm most looking forward to this weekend is going to happen at Hooligan's Pub! Here, the Keltic Cowboys, an Irish rock band from Phoenix in the tradition of Flogging Molly will entertain us both nights from 9 until 1. Are you kidding me? Anything reminiscent of Flogging Molly and I'm there. For sure. And so should you.
We do have a new venue in town. From what I'm told they're not very large, but an amazingly nice place to visit and take in some of the area's acoustic performers. So I do want to give a special shout out to Granite Mountain Brewing at 123 N. Cortez. I haven't had a chance to check them out personally yet, but heard that they have a great ambience and that makes me think we should welcome them with open arms and stop by to check them out.
So all I want to say is this: show some dedication and support to our local bands, who will show up and perform regardless the weather. Let's follow suit and be there, no matter if it's 27 degrees. Let's dance and be merry, I'm not accepting any excuses. Come and find me.... Ciao!
